Cookies!

So, I'm baking cookies. Ginny helped me with about half of what I need already. And I'm doing some more tonight; it's cold outside and the warm kitchen is a good place to be right now.

Just sent the following out to the email lists:

Greetings! I am announcing a special addition to the chocolate chip cookie sale at "Much Ado About 12th Night". We are offering the opportunity to decorate gingerbread ladies, lords and their noble homes.

There is an undocumented* internet story that Queen Elizabeth the First, of England, was fond of gingerbread cookies and would have cookies baked up of the likenesses of important visitors, for whimsical presentation at her courts. So it is suitable that an Elizabethan themed event would have gingerbread cookies and it is fun to offer you the opportunity to decorate them. Recreating likenesses of your friends or other important people is entirely up to you. Eating the cookies immediately or taking them home is also up to you; paper plates and plastic wrap will be available.

People of all ages are encouraged to come to the chocolate chip cookie sale to take part. Young children should have an adult with them to supervise and assist.

This is a fun-hearted addition to the chocolate chip cookie sale to raise traveling monies for our royal family. Suggested donation is $1.00 for a lord or lady cookie and $2.00 for a house cookie, which are about twice the size.

Decorating starts at 10 am and goes until the cookies are all gone, and the number is limited to about 100 cookies. No pre-ordering is available, so don't wait all day to come by and secure your cookies! Icings, candies, raisins and other decorating fancies will be available until gone...there is nothing sadder than an undecorated gingerbread cookie unless it is an unclaimed gingerbread cookie.**

Thank you in advance for your participation! I don't want any gingerbread-tears to fall; a sad cookie-man is a soggy cookie-man.

Not a lot going on today

it's a day just to do stuff. I rejoined Jillian Michaels workout program, for example. Slept in really late. Did llaundry. Worked out. Talked to Shannon, who said they did not want visitors today; I suggested they get that out on the web at least cause I had heard from several people who were hoping to drop by. Including me.

Finally getting rivets reset on my legs, so I can get them back out to the car and all. They take up room in here. And....you know? the waxed hemp cording I've got the straps attached with is holding just fine. Never mind. Out to the car w the lot of it.

Birth information from Rachel

Rachel Weiss Gray says: Danielle Ruth is here! She's 6 lbs 7 onz & 21 in long. We're both happy & healthy. :)

Danni is born

12:58 pm, Shannon texted Van that it is a baby girl! Rachel and Shannon are welcoming Danni into their arms right now.

Van had called Shannon last night to check on him, and learned that they were going to give her something to help her sleep. So complaints of lumpy beds aside, I hope she got enough deep sleep. And I wonder if he slept in a chair by her or if he was sent home. Part of the story for later telling.

I rush home so I can get back out again...

on our way to a party asap, sure thing. Van's not here! TV is on, lights on, car is gone. Hum. No idea where he is. Or why. I didn't call him to tell him I was leaving work 15 minutes early, but truthfully it was an impulse and truthfully, he left his phone here. Darn.

Rachel is at 2 cm and just waiting.

So the end of a decade as well as the year, and a blue moon as well. No high-level thinking to monologue on about, maybe tomorrow. I have just heard the door slam...hehe. Later!
